The trend of high voltage servos has been percolating down through all the classes of servo size. Until just recently, finding a high voltage set of servos for a 450-size model was a bit difficult. However, MKS now offers a snappy fast set of high voltage, aluminum cased servos to outfit your micro-servo compatible model. I was fortunate enough to receive a set to try out in my Gaui X3 heli.

Each servo comes packaged in an attractive, slim plastic sleeve with two long arm servo horns, two coarse thread mounting screws and two servo arm screws. The servos are CNC aluminum cased for the ultimate in gear-train rigidity and overall strength. The aluminum case doubles as a heatsink to keep the coreless motor cool during intensive smack sessions. The drivetrain is comprised of alloy gears that have been titanium coated to reduce wear and improve durability. Each servo’s output gear is supported by dual ball bearings. This helps increase load handling while maintaining smooth movement. For all around receiver compatibility, the servo leads are outfitted with universal JR-style connectors.

Installing the servos was uneventful. They fit into the model without any modifications and once powered on and centered, they were totally quiet. Fortunately, the included servo arms got me quite close to perfect 90-degree ball alignment so I used barely any sub-trim in the AR7200BX’s setup. I finalized the geometry and double checked my throws and limits. I’ve had some less than stellar servos change center after going through setup, but the MKS units retained their centering and showed smooth control action on the bench.

In the air, the model felt very precise, connected and alive. I had no expo or rates set up, so all of my stick inputs were as pure as they could be, other than the basic CCPM and flybarless mixes. The model’s response was immediate with no delay and the flybarless system stabilization seemed transparent and smooth without any flutter or signs of inaccurate centeringMKS HV93 Series Servos-2.

The servos didn’t seem to sag under heavy loading from pitch pumping or tic- tocs either. Since these are micro servos, heat can easily put them out of commission. Lesser servos will often taper off in responsiveness when loaded up or in some extreme cases, will stall. The MKS’s executed exactly what I requested in addition to stabilization duties without any fading, smoking or grinding gears.

MKS has been constantly evolving and releasing new products to push servo performance boundaries. The HV93 series a? ords you stellar performance, but with high voltage capabilities versus their previous ? agship DS series. Servos are one of the biggest contributors to how well your model feels and ? ies. These servos are a perfect match for any model on the market where they’re compatible.
